SICILY

From 6 to 12 March 2022, 18 students and 3 teachers from La Inmaculada School travelled to Patti, Italy, as part of the Erasmus+ project "Learning Zones for Inclusion & Equality", to meet there with their fellow partners from Giurgiu Secondary School No. 7 in Romania and Liceo Vittorio Emanuele IIi in Italy.
SICILY

After the first virtual mobility that took place last year, in May 2021, we have been able to carry out a first physical mobility to the Liceo Vittorio Emanuele III school, Patti (Sicily), Italy.

This active exchange of experiences was intended to have an impact on pupils from the partner countries, who work in different learning environments. The visit to the host school revealed to the invited partners a well compartmentalised building with many offices and laboratories, spaces for extracurricular activities, an impressive library, protocol spaces and a huge school playground with amphitheatre, sports area demarcated for volleyball, basketball and football.

The project runs from 2020 to 2023 and the main objectives of our project are the following three points:

1. To develop an attitude of openness, breaking down barriers and creating citizens of a European and global society.

2. To reinforce the knowledge of the cultural and historical aspects of other countries in order to value and respect them. 3. To promote equity, social cohesion, active and tolerant citizenship and well-being by getting closer to other cultures, social realities and other countries. It also involves knowing, valuing and promoting one's own heritage as a form of personal and social enrichment.

3. Promote new methodologies based on learning areas. As a school with all compulsory educational levels, it is necessary to reinforce the transition between levels by creating learning areas based on the development of key competences. We want to reinforce this by exchanging organisation, methodologies and results around these learning spaces created on the basis of competences and skills and not on the basis of content.

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It’s easy. Just click “Edit Text” or double click me and you can start adding your own content and make changes to the font. Feel free to drag and drop me anywhere you like on your page. I’m a great place for you to tell a story and let your users know a little more about you.

This is a great space to write long text about your company and your services. You can use this space to go into a little more detail about your company. Talk about your team and what services you provide. Tell your visitors the story of how you came up with the idea for your business and what makes you different from your competitors.

And the last visit was to Messina. A city where we visited the Cathedral Square with the 16th century Orion Fountain (Fontana di Orione) and the Cathedral, consecrated at the end of the 11th century. And of course we enjoy an afternoon of shopping.

In the end, it is a meeting that will be characterised by the exchange of knowledge and skills between the partner countries. We will work through dynamics that will promote cooperative work between teachers and students, with the sharing of the objectives of this project. The summary of this week is a cultural opening with the discovery of different ways of life, different ways of learning and teaching and the best knowledge of the region visited at social, cultural and historical level. We managed to have social openness, inclusion and equity with all the activities carried out in full collaboration with the two partner countries.

ACTIVITIES

A welcome to the visiting partners and meeting with the local authorities introduced the project to the community, which opened the beginning of an exciting week. The two visiting countries presented our schools and our countries. In our case, an emotional video of the school opened our presentation. Then, a group of 4th grade students presented live and direct the traditions and the most emblematic monuments of our country. The group of students finished by dancing to a medley of popular Spanish songs, which got everyone in the room going.

In the afternoon of that first day there was a presentation of the historical and cultural environment of the city, followed by a visit to the most important places of interest (main squares, Cathedral, Roman Villa).

The pupils enjoyed several excursions to emblematic places in the surrounding area: Tindari Sanctuary and the Greek theatre. Excursion to a nearby town with a tourist vocation for its history and cultural monuments.  Cefalù was another of the destinations whose main streets are Corso Ruggero and Via Vittorio Emanuele; and it will be around these and the Piazza del Duomo where we will locate most of the attractions of the town.

To do this, the students are asked to make a photographic report and a video of the places visited, in this way they will express the emotions they experience when they get to know the territory and the landscape and then they will express them in mixed groups of the 3 countries to carry out joint activities.

exchange of activities, resources and videoconferences between all the centres.

Another of the most exciting activities was the visit to the Patti ceramics factory, where the pupils observed the technological process of designing decorative plates and participated in the making of some of them.
